Welcome to the web pages of the Biological Physics Group
The Kress group is working in the field of cellular biophysics. Among other things, we are interested in mechanical processes in living cells, which are relevant for the interaction between cells and microparticles (including microplastics) and for cell migration.
To enable this research, we are developing and using quantitative biophysical tools such as Optical Tweezers, Magnetic Tweezers and Traction Force Microscopy in combination with high temporal and spatial resolution light microscopy. In addition, we are using and developing methods for digital image processing and computer simulations.
